Undergraduate Research Assistant Position - Position Available Immediately

Apply ASAP. Position Available Immediately.

The Wetzel Lab at MSU is looking for an undergraduate research assistant to work on lab and greenhouse projects examining how the ecological interactions of plants and insects respond to environmental variability. The major project, in which the assistant will work with a team, investigates how plant-eating insect pests of agricultural crops respond to different chemical and physical traits of plants.

Jobs will include growing tomato plants, rearing caterpillars, and helping to collect plant trait and larval performance data.

Preference given to candidates who are interested in continuing as a research assistant during the summer field season (based at Kellogg Biological Station, see separate job description). Pay rate is $10/hr.

To apply please email your CV/resume, unofficial transcript, and contact information for 1-2 references to Wetzel Lab manager Luke Zehr (zehrluke@msu.edu). Feel free to email for more details or to ask questions.

Preference will be given to candidates pursuing a career in the sciences and with experience working with plants and/or insects.

The Wetzel Lab is in the Department of Entomology and is affiliated
with the Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Behavior Program. The Wetzel Lab strives to be a supportive community and a safe space for diversity in science.
